Junichi Sampei was born in 1968 in Chiba Prefecture and graduated from the University of Nippon Institute of Technology in 1995. In 1996 he began his career at Shin Takamatsu & Associates.
In 1999, he founded A.L.X. (ARCHITECT LABEL Xain) which is a Japanese architecture studio operating in Tokyo. The office is known for designing projects that are in correspondence with nature and the environment.
Since 2016, he has been working as a part-time lecturer at one of the most prestigious art universities in Japan — Musashino Art University.
