CASE DESIGN STUDIO is an architectural office led by an architect couple Norio Yokota and Noriko Kawamura. The practice was founded in 1998 in Tokyo. CASE DESIGN STUDIO aims to create beautiful yet comfortable housing that exists within unique natural landscapes. The practice holds several awards.
Yokota Norio was born in 1967 in Osaka. He holds a degree in architecture from Musashino Art University and is a part-time lecturer at the same university. He was also involved in the design of the Kyoto Concert Hall and Obamata Memorial Library. From 1989-1998 he worked at the renowned Fumihiko Maki practice, helping the design of Kaze-no-Oka Crematorium, which was a huge project, emphasizing traditional lines in the ceremonial space.
Kawamura Noriko was born in 1963 in Tokyo. She graduated from Musashino Art University in 1986 and started working at Maki General Planning Office the same year. During her time there, she was responsible for Makuhari Messe, a large convention center. She was also involved in planning Shonan Fujisawa Campus of Keio University. Moreover, she was in charge of construction supervision, auditorium design, and student lounge design.
