studio velocity is an architectural studio founded by Kentaro Kurihara and Miho Iwatsuki in 2006, initially named velocity. The practice is based in Okazaki and focuses mainly on residential architecture.
Kentaro Kurihara and Miho Iwatsuki were born in 1977 in Aichi Prefecture. They worked at Junya Ishigami Architects from 2004-2005. From 2008-2018, Kentaro Kurihara worked at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Art and Design, Aichi Sangyo University as a part-time lecturer. He was also a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, Aichi Institute of Technology, Department of Architecture and Urban Design, and Nagoya City University. In 2020, he started his job as an associate professor at Aichi Sangyo University Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Architecture.
Miho Iwatsuki has been working as a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Art and Design, Faculty of Life Sciences, and Faculty of Fine Arts since 2008.
